Taxi or Rideshare?

 Ride Share or Taxi?  

 

                This is a great question, as we have become accustomed to using ride share to get around. Basically ride share has become our way of life and it is fairly safe in spite of the horror stories you read, which are not frequent. Aren't we glad? One thing I recommend when you arrive to your destination is to use a licensed taxi, which can be found in airports, hotels have lists of licensed taxi's we can take, and they even provide the telephone call to the taxi company to help you get around. However; most people do not think about doing one simple tactic that has the potential to save your life when you travel. 

                Prior to you entering the taxi walk around the rear of the taxi/rideshare vehicle and take a picture of the license plate. This does several things; 1). It puts the driver on notice that you are aware of there information and now they know you have there information; 2). If the driver was thinking to rob you or steal your personal items he now knows you are an aware traveler and would probably move on to someone else. But what if he asks me about the picture? Well, you always tell them that you are sending the picture of there license plate to your friend who is waiting for you at the destination and want them to know who the driver is. That should put them on edge. They do not know you really do not have a friend waiting for you and if you do have a friend waiting on you then extra bonus points. 

                I hope this safety tip helps you at least think about your safety when you travel. Not everyone you meet has good intentions and it is your responsibility to know. You have all the right to have fun exploring new cultures and places, but your loved ones also want to see you come back home with exciting new stories of your adventures.
